Don't want to be constrained by life and limited space.
What kind of life will this generation of young people who choose to raise their own children lead?
Let's take a look at how the novice parents living in a one-bedroom small apartment create a comfortable children's room in the living room.
A novice father in MA practicing "independent child-rearing"
After the arrival of the little life at home, the space that was just enough for two people to live in became cramped. The less than 25m2 living room crammed in the dining table, sofa, coffee table, TV wall, and baby's clothes rack. The baby's stroller does not have a specific place, and placing it directly in the living room greatly affects daily movement.
Interior Designer Clara
"The function of the original dining room is already full, and adding the baby's activity and sleep area is actually a big challenge. So my focus is to design a multifunctional living room, from planning the space layout to efficient storage, so they can enjoy the new life of a family of three more."
Breaking the Original Layout of the Living Room
to Create a "Children's Room"
Without giving up the original adult life needs, the space layout is reconstructed through a semi-open treatment method, rationally creating more functional areas. Not only does each functional space independently integrate with each other, but it also creates an independent sleeping area for the baby.
The baby bed and dining area are separated by a rattan screen, which does not affect the light and retains a certain degree of privacy. The handmade rattan carries a natural atmosphere. Continuing the original wood style of the living room, it creates a warm and comfortable atmosphere for the baby.
The baby's bed is covered with a soft and skin-friendly mattress to protect the baby's delicate skin. A playful canopy is added above the head of the bed, providing a sense of security for the baby, ensuring they enjoy a good night's sleep. Some small accessories are matched alongside the bed, used to store common baby items.
To further enhance the soothing sleep environment, consider incorporating the White Noise Machine Babelio Mini Sound Machine. This compact and portable device is designed for adults, kids, and babies, providing calming white noise that helps drown out background sounds and promote a peaceful sleep. Its easy-to-pocket and travel-friendly design makes it convenient to use anywhere, whether at home or on the go.
"Light" Furniture Leads into Home
Small Space Becomes Spacious
In order to accommodate more functional areas in the original small apartment, choose "lightweight furniture" to abandon the heaviness, and improve in many aspects such as appearance, function, and flexibility. This not only does not affect practicality but also fully saves space.
In the dining area, a stretchable dining table is used to replace the six-person dining table that is not a daily need. When guests come, just take out the spare meal board to meet multiple people dining. And prepare a high chair for the baby, so that the baby in the complementary food period can also enjoy delicious food with mom and dad.
To further enhance your child's dining experience, consider the Babelio Powerful Suction Plates for babies and toddlers. These plates, featuring four strong suction cups, stay put, preventing any tipping or spills even when your little one is feeling playful at the table.
Pair these plates with the Babelio Ultra-Thin Set of 3 Silicone Baby Bibs. Perfect for babies and toddlers aged 6-72 months, these unisex bibs in blue, light yellow, and pink are designed to make meal times less messy and more fun.
In the sofa area, decisively abandon the bulky coffee table, replace the daily placement of items with a light side table. Sometimes David will also do some work here, and the most important thing is that it can be easily moved away, folded up and put in the corner to store freely, easily leaving floor space to become a game area accompanying the baby.
Flexible and Comprehensive Storage Solutions
After having a baby, it becomes evident that the number of things in the house increases significantly. To ensure that both adults and children have their own storage spaces, the designer has tailored a flexible and well-divided storage solution for them. No corner is overlooked when addressing different needs.
Next to the dining table, a glass door bookcase is made into a side cabinet for meals, combining open and closed storage in one. So glasses and utensils can be easily picked up, and the glass door panel clearly displays the photos of the baby's growth.
The original sofa wall is a pegboard with many photos, after adding new hooks, net baskets, partitions and other accessories, the storage is richer, and it is more convenient and efficient to take things.
On the other side of the children's activity area, make full use of the wall to increase storage space. Adopt storage combination, efficiently store different toys and books, keep the play area tidy. The pull-out storage is also convenient for children to organize when they grow up, and cultivate the baby's storage habits. Add a few shelves on the short cabinet, the color tone of the logs and the shape of the small house are more in line with the atmosphere of the space.
On the wall of the entrance, use a bracket and shelf to create a storage area, place decorative paintings, plants, and small objects for going out, and the space below is just enough for the "nowhere to put" stroller.
The space is limited, but the function is not limited.
