PressGuard U1 | Pressure-Mounted Safety Baby Gate for Doorways & Stairs

This baby gate has been a great relief for my mind. We use it at the top of the stairs, and it fits perfectly in the 38” space. The pressure mounted design meant no drilling so its easy to install and really sturdy once in place. The wide walk thru door is nice, and the self closing feature is really convenient especially when my hands are full. I also love the lock indicator, it’s easy to tell when the gate is securely closed. Great for babies and pets.

I had just bought the prior model version of this brand’s baby gate before this model was released. There are some key improvements that make this model superior to its predecessor.

The latch release is still operated with a single hand - with the old model, it was required to push in both safety releases while lifting and pushing/pulling open. Now, you can just close your hand around the two safety releases, and push/pull open without needing to lift. Small, but noticeable improvement.

Next - the opening is a bit wider than the previous model. Because of this, you’ll need to use fewer width extenders which increases the stability of the gate significantly.

This is an improved version of an existing staple for a toddler and baby household. Very pleased with the small tweaks and the improvements they bring overall.

This is great! We got this to replace a basic gate that has a lift up and swing mechanism that we use to keep the dog from going upstairs. While it has quite a few cons in our case (mostly stemming from the issue of the width not quite fitting our space even with measuring), the oroa actually do outweigh those and we haven't switched back to our old gate because overall this one is just sturdier, easier to use, and looks nicer.

Pros:
Looks very nice. Our other one looked sort of temporary and flimsy. This one looks sturdy and well put together when you walk in the house and see it.
The option to swing shut or hold open is so nice!
It's very wide, so I no longer have to walk up the stairs sideways if I'm carrying a basket. This is my favorite thing about it.
The latch is easy to use and more secure than a traditional gate. In theory, our dog, and certainly an excited toddler, could have figured out how to open our old gate, but this one latches securely.

Cons:
It was just a tiny bit too narrow but the extension was too wide for us to fit. This means the part that pushes in the wall is extended further than it should be, so it was very hard to get it to stay in place and means I can't really fine tune the placement without the whole thing falling over. While this could just be an issue with our stair width, as far as I know it's standard new build, and I measured ahead of time to get the right gate, so I wish it was better able to fit the width adequately. This also means that the red/green indicator doesn't quite like up right and the gate sticks a little most of the time because of the alignment. Annoying but not the end of the world.
The caps for the wall were difficult to apply because of the width issue. We didn't want to screw them in but the adhesive tore some paint off as we tried to get things in the right place, again, due to the width issue. They were falling off if we tried to place them using the extenders as a guide. In the end we got them to fit.
The base seems like it sticks out quite a bit on the stairs. I think it's because this gate is just much thicker than our old one. It means we have to be careful on the first step with the gate because you lose a LOT of foot space.
It's very noisy when it closes. If we were using it for a baby, that would be a loud crash every time it shuts. A soft close hinge would be amazing.

Easy to put together and easy to use. Added to outdoor deck for the dog. Matches the color and look of my deck railing.

This gate so far is the best

This gate was very easy to install and works well to keep my dog from going upstairs. It feels very solid and good quality, and feels very secure despite being pressure mounted and not drilled into my walls. You can open with one hand and the self closing feature is nice as well. Also doesn't look bad in my home, has simple and clean lines.

It works perfectly, and I live how it can be adjusted to different sizes

Best gate I have ever owned!

Looks great. Super sturdy and well made. The installation was a little harder than I wanted it to be. Good for larger dogs, my 45lbs cant get through but my 4lb can! Overall good protection. Good value.
