We sometimes have a need to pass through the entry with our hands full, and I wanted to see if this infrared auto-unlock gate would help us in that regard.Installation was relatively simple. This gate is pressure mounted, so no drills or screwdrivers necessary. Our doorway is in between needing an extension and not - the gate comes with 4 extension pieces. I opted not to use an extension since the fit was too tight and I couldn't really make it fit the opening. The screws that pressure mount to the walls included with this gate are shorter than other pressure mounted gates I've owned, which is why I took a star off. It's not as versatile when you're limited to sub-part components - they should have included longer screws.The pressure mount works okay, but could be improved with better tolerances. The way I currently have the gate, it isn't as tight against the walls as I'd prefer. However, if I tighten the posts more, the gate doesn't open and close freely. Getting it set just right is a fine line and requires some patience.The two-stage latch for when the batteries run out is very difficult to use. As an adult, I can barely get it to operate most of the time. The gate I replaced in this location was too easy to open, and now this one is too hard. Poorly designed latching mechanisms on baby gates seems to be a common theme across brands.The auto-opening part functions fairly well. It didn't come with batteries (2x AA in each the gate and sensor) so I supplied my own rechargeable batteries. I don't know how long they'll work on a charge since the mechanism may use a relatively large amount of power - this remains to be seen though. I did initially encounter an issue where the gate wasn't unlocking every time even though the sensor was beeping to detect me. I realized the batteries I put in the gate were too low for it to reliably operate. The manual briefly mentions this is possible, but doesn't go into detail. If you have lock/unlock reliability issues, swap the batteries and test again.Overall, this gate is nice and works as intended. There could definitely be improvements made to the latch mechanism, it would be nice to have batteries included, and longer post screws as well. These aren't major cons necessarily, but I think it's important to take into account considering this gate is more expensive than most at one hundred and ten dollars at time of review. For that amount, I'd expect a more well-thought out gate in these regards. That being said, it has been pretty nice to use so far and I'm keeping it in place for now.

I have had this gate for about 3 months. When it works it is awesome. I often have my hands full carrying things like laundry and I just wave my hand and it unlocks so I can pass through easily. Unfortunately it doesn��t always unlock. I was changing the batteries every two weeks which sucked but I really liked the gate. I tried rechargeable batteries but they did not work. Now after only 3 months the gate no longer unlocks even with fresh batteries. Great customer service! I received a replacement and will be using energizer batteries instead of amazon basics. Fingers crossed that it lasts longer than 3 months.

Installed this to replace a plastic gate to keep our little pugs from escaping their area while we are away. Installation was simple, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. Setting up the motion activation sensor was relatively easy, though a smidge finicky in the beginning - once we got it set correctly, it worked like a charm.The pathway we installed this in needed an extension, which are included, and was a breeze to include in the installation: Adjusting it to fit snug took literal seconds. Once installation was complete, I was curious if it would hold when they pounced at it (the plastic gate routinely would fall) and was pleasantly surprised when it held firm, much to the chagrin of my pug!Initially the price had me a bit skeptical, but now that it's up, the ease of being able to traverse the pathway and lock it behind me without needing to use my hands is WELL worth it.

Handy. Safe, hands free. Use a level to install. Impact driver as well.

��The actual opening is a bit narrow. This is necessitated by the housing for the electronic locking mechanism. The motion activated release works well, but the manual release is pretty cumbersome.

This gate is really cute and easy to set up. I love that. There is a door that you can open so you don’t have to move the entire gate. I also love that it locks and unlocks and works great.

This gate is easy to set up. It's wide enough to comfortably walk through. It doesn't need to be screwed in to install and is child safe. Perfect for pets too. Durable and well made. The latch lines up nicely and as long as installation is level you are fine. No missing parts.

It closes by itself with the included sensor, and most importantly, did I have trouble putting it together? No, it was pretty easy with a few small changes while I was putting it together. It really shines when it comes to safety and durability. It is reliable, and I want to get another one for a different area.

I have several gates by this brand and they are holding up very well.
I like that this one is black and I love the sensor.
It’s high enough that a little one can’t trigger it and it’s so convenient to be able to walk through with full hands and not have to fuss with a gate.
I do have cats and haven’t yet had it open when they jump over it but it could happen.
This is study enough for my needs and install was easy.

Our dogs cannot knock it down and brighter can our kids. It is tall enough the dogs cannot just jump over it and the vertical bars deter climbing kids more than other styles.

This is a well made gate and feels like a solid quality product. Comes with all hardware required for installation, even comes with banister adapters! Note - when installing, the tension screws fit in loose and will even wiggle, that's normal and requires that you add pressure by screwing the plastic screw to add pressure between the gate and the wall.

This brand has fantastic products with a superior quality and build. This gate it very well built, solid and well constructed. I love the idea of the simple swipe and walk by of a hand to open it with the infrared idea. It seemed really appealing at first though. Installation was simple like any gate. The infrared part is where it got a little frustrating. The sensor can only be installed on the side of the gate that the big sensor is on itself so if you have any unusual wall situation and can only have the gate open that one way it makes it difficult. We have a short wall on one side for example and it cannot open to that side easily or safely. We assumed the sensor could be used on the tall adjacent wall but it cannot. We tried using the beam at different angles but it would trigger with people walking by so it really has to be done per the boom install requirement. There is not a good work around if you have a funky wall spot. We ended up moving it to a different location to test it installed correctly and it works fantastic if done the right way! It’s so easy and a simple hand swipe and the gate simple pops open a slight bit and you can push right through it. It’s good to note that this gate can function as a normal gate if your battery or beam fail and you can open it by hand. It’s trickier to open than some and it’s took some time for us to get used to but that’s great because my toddler surely isn’t figuring it out. If you have cats and they jump gates they may accidentally open it if they set the infrared off unfortunately. If that happens the gate will beep endlessly to let you know something has opened it and it’s not secure.
